We have had another great week in Year 2. We finished our character descriptions of dragons and wrote them up nicely today. I was so impressed with the beautiful handwriting that all the children produced, their work is going to look fantastic displayed in our classroom.
We had a wonderful History lesson today, where we acted as historians using sources to investigate Columbus’ adventures as an explorer.
In RE we continued our learning about religious buildings, looking this week at mosques. Children learnt all about the different parts of a mosque and what these mean to Muslims.
Looking forward to another great week next week!
Enjoy the long weekend and see you all on Tuesday!
This week we have been engaging in talk for writing in our writing lessons. We have been listening to the story of Paddington at the Palace. We made a story map and then made some actions to help retell the story of Paddington at the Palace.
In this story Paddington was exploring London. He caught a huge red bus without any roof. He saw the Gerkin and Big Ben. Paddington also walked through St James’ Park and spotted flowers that were all the colours of the rainbow. After reading this story we also explored the sights of London online and also shared our own experiences of visiting London. Here are some photos of us retelling the story of Paddington at the Palace, through actions.
This week has been another fantastic week in Billie Jean King class. We are all well settled into our learning and having lots of fun along the way.
This week has included a special visitor (virtual, of course) from Trent Severn Water who talked to us about water and toilets, which the children loved! We had another visitor do a great session around emotions and kindness. This even included a song and dance (pictured below). Today we enjoyed making collages in art, in an exploration of beauty.
We have had a fantastic first week back in Year 2. All the children have settled in really well and are working hard… it’s like they have never been away!
Here are a few pictures from the week- a bit of drama in our writing lessons about Paddington, a science investigation where we learnt about the Covid vaccine and a practical maths investigation around 3D shapes.
